Yesterday the piece that started me on this journey of being Cee Tiresias was published on Scallywag & Vagabond! I guess someone's finally been outed...

I read the piece a couple of times and it occurred to me that western european versions of human language and societal roles/proscriptions tend to force all kinds of aspects of living beings (and earth herself) into binary categories. The behavior of living beings often fails to be accurately represented and/or described by such distinctions. And yet, when the reality of living beings doesn't fit the rigidity of language and thinking it is the living being who is viewed askance instead of the obvious necessity of reviewing/revising the inadequacy of language and/or thought. In addition, when someone is viewed as occupying one of these binary positions...movement out of them is often an occasion for dismay and turmoil. We seem to forget that language and thinking and concepts come from living beings and not the reverse. This forgetting can lead to much suffering and confusion for those who end up in the path of societal attempts to reify inaccuracies...when in fact the problem does not reside there at all.
ReplyDeleteThe piece was well written and brave...hooray!
